Santiam Horse Camp, OR

Description

This is an Oregon Department of Forestry operated campground.
In 2006 the Oregon Department of Forestry partnered with the Silver Falls Chapter of Oregon Equestrian Trails and other local volunteers to design and construct this campground and the trail system surrounding it. Volunteers donated nearly 2000 hours of service to assist ODF in creating this recreation opportunity. Since then, the Santiam Horse Camp and Day-use Area has served many recreationalists from near and far. In 2020, the Labor Day Fires severely impacted the campground and its surrounding forestland. After a yearlong closure, the camp reported in the early summer of 2022. Today, the camp is located in a partially burned forest setting and is the starting point for a system of non-motorized trails for horseback riders, bikers and hikers. Trail users travel through miles of diverse forest with clear streams and unique geological formations.--
